Welcome to Lee Vining Motel

Lee Vining Motel offers travelers a welcoming and comfortable base nestled in the charming town of Lee Vining, California. With a solid rating of 3.9, this motel strikes a balance between affordability and convenience, making it an ideal choice for visitors exploring Yosemite National Park, Mono Lake, Mammoth Lakes, and Convict Lake.

The motel’s location at 51439 US-395 places guests just a short drive—about 30 minutes—from major attractions. This proximity allows for efficient day trips without the hassle of long drives, especially when Tioga Pass is open during early fall. The quiet, small town atmosphere coupled with local dining and coffee shops nearby enhances the experience, offering a genuine taste of local charm.

Many guests have praised the motel for its cleanliness and recent room renovations. The rooms, with their concrete walls, provide excellent sound insulation, ensuring restful nights away from neighbors' noise. Thoughtful amenities like comfy beds, spacious showers, window air conditioning units, microwaves, large refrigerators, and ample charging outlets speak to the motel’s attention to practical comfort. Housekeeping here stands out, consistently maintaining spotless rooms that bring peace of mind to tired travelers.

Lee Vining Motel’s simplicity is part of its appeal: free Wi-Fi and free parking cater to essential traveler needs, while its kid-friendly environment welcomes families looking for straightforward, no-frills accommodation. While it lacks a pool, restaurant, or fitness center, the surrounding area compensates with natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The motel’s old-school charm, combined with smart upgrades, creates a nostalgic yet fresh ambiance that resonates well with hikers, sightseers, and nature lovers alike.

The primary downside noted by some is the motel’s close proximity to US-395, which may introduce some traffic noise. However, many guests find this a minor trade-off given the motel's clean, cozy accommodations and unbeatable location. The easy check-in and check-out processes further simplify stays, allowing guests to focus on their outdoor adventures rather than hotel logistics.

Overall, Lee Vining Motel encapsulates the spirit of mountain lodging: straightforward, dependable, and comfortably close to some of California’s most breathtaking natural landmarks. It invites travelers to rest well after days filled with hiking, photography, and lakeside explorations, making it a sincere choice for those who value location, cleanliness, and a genuine, friendly welcome.

Stayed here the last time we went to yosemite and this most recent time as well. Very friendly owners and accommodating. Location is great only half an hour to mammoth lake convict lake, yosemite. If youre traveling during early October you should still be able to use tioga pass, we were fortunate that just one day of our stay it was closed. Otherwise its a 6 hour drive to loop around and drive to the other yosemite entrance.

Was assigned to room 1A and it was super clean so the housekeepers definitely deserve a raise. Seems all the rooms are recently remodeled, and the walls are concrete between rooms so unlikely you will hear anything from your neighbors. The price is also reasonable and low compared to other accomodations in the area in the high tourist season. The downside is that the motel is too close to US 395 and whenever a truck/loud vehicle passing by the room will be shaking and the noise is transmitted well into the door. Some insulation work is very necessary for the doors. The parking lot is very small too and you might have to park on the road if it is full. Bring earplugs if you need good sleep for the next day hiking.

My wife and I spent several nights here recently while we hiked Yosemite and saw local sites for our 30th anniversary. This is a very clean motel, our room seemed to have been remodeled recently. Bed was very comfy. towels clean, shower warm and big. lots of plugs to charge cell phones run laptops etc. microwave for snacks, big ice machine, fridge was big enough to keep snacks and drinks for a few days. staff was poilite and check-in was easy. VERY CLOSE to a yosemite main entrance and a very cool ghost town. good local retaurnats were less than 1 min walk away.

Overall excellent stay given the price. We stayed for one night before heading up into Yosemite. Clean room, nicely renovated bathroom with a spacious shower and even a window ac unit. The only thing that was a bit of a bother was that we couldn’t get the door to latch shut no matter how hard we tried. Easy late check in process and easy check out process as well. Would recommend!

Old-school, small motel nicely upgraded, located on the main street of Lee Vining- a quiet cute, little (pop. 200) town. Clean but small room, but all I needed. Cable TV and wifi, but no A/C. I was there in late September so the nights were cool. Many nice restaurants and coffee shops walking distance or a short drive away. I had a small view of Mono Lake from my window. I had taken a side trip from Yosemite to see Mono Lake in the morning. This was perfect and not expensive.
